My 86 interstate turn signals stopped working. I checked for any damaged wires first, and found none. Next was my signal switch. That was showing continuity problems (according to Hayes service manual) so I replaced it with one that works. That still didn't cure the problem. I checked the signal flasher, and that works. (My hazard flasher does work, and since the turn flasher and the hazard flashers are the same, both checkout OK) Now, I'm into the signal relays. I'm not quite sure which one is which, but I have I.D.'ed the fuel sensor relay, and the turn signal self-cancel unit. Now, at the position light relay, I can get the signals to work if I jumper the wires. (With the handlebar switch turned on) According to the wires, I'm jumping from white/green to orange/white, and then from white/green to light blue/white. But not both at the same time, because they don't work if I do. Am I on the right track here?
Is there a way to test these relays for continuity?
What am I doing wrong here?
