Sticky Radio Controls

Postby mhollin » Sun Jun 05, 2011 7:09 am

My radio controls on the handlebar are 'sticky' on my 87 Aspencade. Press switches to change channels and they only work intermittently. This, I"m sure, is an easy fix but I've not tried anything yet. Don't see screws on the control box to take apart easily so just pry apart? Then what?

try spraying wd40 in there to loosen them up and clean them with contact cleaner, I ended up carrying a can of the contact cleaner with me, eventually did this...

Thanks for the tip and link. Do the boxes just pry apart or are there screws somewhere I don't see?

No screws, I put a small screwdriver in the bottom in the little hole and they will come apart, sounds bad when they do but yes they will come apart.

Thanks for the tip. Opened up both of them yesterday - full of gunk. Now the radio controls work.
