Cyl 2-4 not firing

Postby bubba-t- » Wed Jun 08, 2011 6:44 pm

The plugs are wet changed them out with the other side that is working, they come out wet. Checked the spark seems to be the same on all plugs and wires. When I start runs rough have taken the wires completely off 2-4 no change in the motor. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

OK this is the plug wiring. If the SIDE (2-4) do not fire but (1-3) do,It's not the ignition or timing. The next most likely cause of wet plugs are:::: stuck floats(flooding the cylinder)stuck slides,or least likely, low compression.

Try taking all the plugs out and laying them on the head, and cranking it over. Hopefully you have spark on all 4. If no fire on the poor side then it looks like more than a plug issue. I have seen plugs which would not fire under compression, but It looks like you have swapped the plugs side to side. Yellow spark could be an indicatio of a weak coil??

Keep us in the loop

Started to remove the coils and found the b/w wires hanging loose these apparently provide power to coils from the icm. It had a strait line hooked up to the battery (Southern Engineering at it's finest ) Still have a little backfire as I let off the throttle not bad puttin it back together gonna go test ride see how it does

No problems that a good carb sync won't fix now.

Thanks to all who responded most times all it takes is bouncing ideas off each other to get the job done. Y'all are a great help to an OLD MAN that hasn't touched a bike in 30 years.
