turn signals inop

Postby tech1 » Tue Jul 05, 2011 7:07 pm

Hi everyone.
I replaced the part of my turn signal switch just the grounding and lever switch in my turn signal switch for a strange acting switch. Sometimes it would turn on the wrong direction or not cancel. I bought a switch on E-bay but it has only one clutch switch harness comming out. That is why I just replaced the lever switch portion of the switch.
My bike is an 86 SEi. Can the turn signal cancel control unit cause this? Or angle sensor?
Any help?
Thanks Joe

The 'turn signal canceling control unit' does provide the power to the flasher unit, but it's up to the switch to determine which direction is flashing.
The unit just responses to switch commands sent to it.
I would re-investigate the switches and grounds.

Good news!! I found a connector INSIDE the stem for the cancelation angle sensor that I had pulled on too far.
Bad news is its a dumb place for connectors and VERY hard to get at. I had to drop the module out of the stem and reconnect it .
Info to all SEi Wingers there IS a connector inside the stem that can and does come apart with a slight pull .
Thanks Joe
