Fuel pump help

Postby ACEWINGER » Sat Jul 16, 2011 2:21 pm

Has anyone out there found a fuel pump that will work on a carb'ed 86 Interstate. Mine is CLICKING like mad. I tired a new filter and relay and still no luck. I read something about using a honda prelude pump but cant find what year of prelude pump to buy or what wiring mods. are needed. The bike runs great with the pump that is clicking but it's driving me nutz.

Thanks for what info you can give!

Is it safe to assume this will work on a 86 interstate? I seen the bike this AWESOME conversion was done on was a 1984 GL1200A. If so I call the auto parts store and they wanted to know if the prelude was a 2.2 EFI ??? If you have the Honda prelude part number, can you post it. I found this one online is this the correct pump?? Thanks for the help

Maybe this will help.
According to the info I obtained the orginal pump needed 3-5 psi. The Honda Prelude pump falls in the category..4-5 psi. I did some research on the pressure...for each one. The 4 cylinder, carburtered Prelude is the pump to use.
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

I have had the prelude pump on my 84 aspy for a while now and it works fine. The one I have is made by Airtex, and the part number is E8310.

Yes the prelude pump will make a clicking noise, but it works just asgood as the expensive oem pump. Mine makes some noise as well but performs like a champ.

Mine clicks a little bit the old OEM one clicked so loud I could here it at 70pmh over wind& traffice noise!!!! much better like I said it's ugly as a mud fence but I'll either paint it or look for a chrome exhaust tip to mod. to fit
