Radio Distorition Source?

Postby brohamdetroit » Sun Aug 07, 2011 10:51 pm

Has anyone done any testing and determined if the distortion is from the radio, amp or speakers? Or I guess it could be from all three?

I'm asking because I was thinking about replacing just the amp with this one from eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... K:MEWAX:IT

I could use ch 1-2 for the existing speakers with a HPF set at something like 250 and use a bridged ch 3-4 to drive a 6 or 8" woofer in one of the bags. Maybe add some external tweeters.

But if it is not the amp, any suggestions on replacement speakers? are they standard 4" drivers?

One last question, is the difference between the 1100 and 1200 systems the rear speakers and fader?

thanks everyone

The 1100 and 1200 systems are completely different. The 1100 is a Clarion, the 1200 is a Panasonic.

Distortion is frequently from underpowered amplifiers pushed into clipping, so a more power amp could very well help your sound.
