1984 Interstate Angle Sensor

Postby rcgreg » Mon Aug 15, 2011 1:56 pm

Howdy,
I took the bike apart to replace the Steering bearings - and spend a lot of time look for - and not finding - the angle sensor that controls the cornering lights. I'm woindering if the PO has removed it. I only found one set of wires throught the steering stem - and they went to the turn signal canceler. Did the 84 Interstate come with one? If it did and is missing - what wires should connect to it?

Thanks !

If you are talking about an angle sensor that will shut your fuel off I dont think the 84 has one. I have dropped my bike once on its side and the bike kept running. The turn signal cancel is located in side your steering head I believe it has three wires going to it and the plugs are up inside the tube. hope this helps, Hal

Your correct - no fuel shut off - I can tell you that from experience !!
What I was talking about is a sensor that turns on the cornering lights when you lean into a turn. Still haven't found it - not sure if it was ever there. The repair book says it should be - but - if it was - it is gone now. If there should be one for the Interstate then I am at the ideal time and place to replace it.

Ah I think I figured it out, the cornering lights are controlled by the turn signal switch. Good - I'm not missing a part, and I don't have to figure out the wiring !! :) :D
