Greetings & Salutations to all from another newbie.........

Post by dirlligaff » Wed Aug 17, 2011 4:57 pm

Just a brief Hello to the members, hoping things are going smooth for everyone.

And since I haven't been able to pick up a repair manual yet, here's may question. On a 1986 GL1200 Aspencade, It seems I'm only getting spark on the two front cylinders. I installed new plugs and still the same. the front cylinders are firing, but the two rear have very weak spark. Can anyone tell me the resistance on the plug wires and any other help/clue as to what i may check next, other than replacing the coil pack.

Thanks to all who respond

Greetings and hallucinations to you as well .
Pull all 4 plugs, don't mix up the wires, unplug and swap the feed wires to the coil and see if the problem stays with the coil or if it follows the wire. This will verify the next step.

The coil pack relies on wasted spark,if one wire is burnt,it can affect both plugs,so unscrew each wire and check.

Also is the bike a 'sei fuel injected or carb type' ?
