timing belt noise 1200 aspencade

Postby inkman » Wed Aug 31, 2011 5:30 pm

replaced timing belts when i started the engine could here noise coming from belt cover. this is only at idle .goes away at about 1300 rpm . set belt deflection at 1/8 to 3/16 at 4 to 5 foot pounds , so i don't think it is to tight . used napa belts . any input would be great. thanks

If you hear the belt slapping the cover the belt is to loose. If you hear it whining or singing it's to tight. So I guess it depends on the exact noise you are hearing. Myself I think they can be a little finicky at times. Hope this helps.
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.
