Greetings everyone...looking for some guidance...if it's okay with you guys.
I'll try and be as brief as I can.
I have a '85 Limited Edition with 216,000 kms. (Cdn) on her...still runs great.
A few years ago, I installed a 1500 rear drive unit in her...works well.
My issues lately, are the the infamous bearing problem in the stock wheel has cropped up.
In the springtime...I JB welded it...and peened around it...held for awhile, but now gone out.
I have a 1500 wheel and 160/80-16 Dunlop sitting in the garage collecting dust...and have been thinking about
putting it on the bike, especially now with the bearing issue.
My concern is the height difference...with the extra inch on the wheel. I have ordered a 150/80-16 Metzeler...hoping that it
will sit a little lower to help compensate. My internet research has indicated that it would.
Because, I'm only 5' 8"...the best of days, and age is diminishing that...and an inseam of 31-32 inches...I really like my
current height set-up, even with the Progressives.
My question...am I setting myself for disappointment, in putting the 1500 wheel on there??
Or should I really try and locate a '86 or '87 wheel with the steel sleeve already there.
Hearing back from some who have the 1500 wheel would be greatly appreciated.
It would sure help me make my decision.
