Timing belts 84 gl1200a

Post by glnewbe » Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:27 pm

I'm sure there is a post on here some where about how to change timing belts on an 84 gl1200 aspy but I haven't found it. Does anyone know a post with pictures and directions for changing them. I have no imagination so I need to see pictures and written instructions ( I don't see pictures in my head).
Also I have taken my bike apart in preparation for the "poorboy" conversion and I don't know how I am going to get the rad filler neck back in place and how to fill the rad once it is done. Any advice from anyone who has done the conversion? Thanks in advance glnewbe

The rad goes back OK just slide the neck up in there. It has mounting tabs. But I think with the poor-boy the bottom is kicked out. I use a long neck funnel to fill the rad and then with my big cleates I reach down in there and put on the rad cap, sometimes using just two fingers.
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.
