Gas Tank Reserve

Postby SAILOR » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:12 am

I know there is no reserve on the 84 Aspencade, but what I am wonder is how many miles can I ride after the fuel gauge starts flashing at me. I've had my bike flashing at me a number of times. I've even rode a number of miles after it was flashing and the most gas I have ever put in my tank was 4.6 gallons. By looking at the specs I have a 5.8 gallon tank, I think. So I'm wondering how many gallons of gas are left in my tank when the fuel sensor start cause the gas gauge to start flashing at me. Does anyone know?

Remember there's always some unusable fuel left in the tank that cannot be picked up by either sump.

The easiest way to find out is to strap a small one or two gallon jerrycan of fuel onto your back seat, go out, and intentionally run out of gas. Then you'll know for sure.
