Inside courtsey light for rear top case

Postby Mooseman » Sun Nov 06, 2011 9:31 pm

Has anyone installed a courtesy light in the top case or trunk? What did you use?

Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

I've seen some people use simple stick-on battery-powered LED lights in there.

I always thought one mounted in the back of the lid would be great, as it would then point down at the contents of the trunk when the lid was wide open.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Especially if it came on when you opened the lid. But a switch would be OK. Don't need one often but it beats a torch (flashlight) rolling around.
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

My buddy and I made up a couple years ago using old glass mercury switches from home 24v. furnace thermostats if You can still find one. They did not look pretty but worked good.

They don't make mercury switches anymore (at least not for consumer thermostats). You can get small solid-state or rolling ball switches though:

http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.asp ... ilt+switch

They're very low current however, so you'd have to have them drive a transistor or relay to switch the light.
