Water Pump for '84 GL1200

Postby Warrensocal » Wed Jan 04, 2012 6:27 pm

I just called my local Honda dealer and he says the water pump and gasket kit have been discontinued. Does anyone know where I can get a pump and gasket kit?

Thanks,

Warren

He's wrong.

You can get the OEM water pump online (likely much cheaper than from your dealer). Cyclemax has them for $126 online here. Do not go with aftermarket for this item - and ESPECIALLY don't go with the cheapo garbage Saber Cycle water pump, which will fail on you within hours of installation.

PartsnMore sells a water pump sealing kit for $25 that includes all the gaskets you will need.

Ron Ayers (http://www.ronayers.com/ProductDetails/N/687/SKU/311271) are selling them at $120 but the part number may look wrong. The parts microfiche lists two different part numbers, 19200-MG9-680 and 19200-371-020 but apparently both numbers have been superceded by 19200-MG9-681. I haven't cross referenced as to whether it is a fit on any other engine but I always find trying Honda marine dealers is a good startas a huge amount of parts are used in both bike and boat engines. I'm prone to just going to a dealer and asking for the part number I want rather than letting some newbie idiot with a computer try and find it all out for me.
Best of luck with it, Adam.

Thanks for the info. I have the pump and gaskets and am in the process of putting the waterpump in as well as replacing the head gaskets. I'm a CPA so I'm really busy with taxes right now so it's taking longer then I'd like... I'll let you know when I'm done.
