Right Master Cylinder

Postby wingnit » Tue Jan 17, 2012 7:51 am

I have notice a small drip coming from the right brake master cylinder after I apply the brake. Does anyone know if you can buy the rubber part of the kit to replace the rubber only or do you have to replace the entire kit? It seem the rubber is the only piece that has gone bad. Has anyone done that and if so where did you find the rubber? Knowing Honda they only sell the complete kit.
Thanks for all responses

They do sell kits to repair your master cylinder. Here's a place I have purchased parts from for my bikes ..

Hi, the parts microfiche shows the only parts available as separate are the circlip and the boot cover. Everything else (as you suspected) is sold as a kit only. I've recently bought a clutch one but there are no markings or numbers on it to try to match it to something else so it'll always be a case of buying a complete kit. I can pm you the parts docs (84-85 or 86-87) if you want to have a look.
Regards, Adam.

I ordered a new kit however ever kit i looked at had only two rubber not counting the dust boot. The piston that I remove from my bike had three rubbers. .. I have supplied a picture and I am showing where the rubbers were on the one that came off of my bike indicated by the arrows . Can anyone confirm that the rubber in the middle of the piston comes mounted from the manufacture? It is a bit confusing so any help would be appreciated, the dealer can't tell me anything from the pictures they have on their computer.
