GL1500 Rear Tire Confusion - Elite 3

Post by landisr » Wed Feb 15, 2012 8:34 pm

I currently have a Dunlop E3 on my 94A (size 160/80-16). I apparently picked up a nail and am shopping for a replacement. rockymountainatvmc.com has an Elite 3 bias supposedly for my bike, but the size is MT90B-16. According to the Dunlop site, these two tires call for different size rims (3.00 vs 3.50 recommended).

Bottom line: Is the MT90B-16 a proper tire for my bike?

Thanks. Ron in MI

MT90-16 is too small. I use an MU90-16 on my '82 GL1100. Your dealer should know the size tire and it is in the operators manual also. Doug

This is the tire you want:

A MT90B-16 is a FRONT tire from what I see.

"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

Use rockys street site. http://www.jakewilson.com Look for the E-3 Bias ply rear. The MT, MU, MV sizes are for Harleys. The MT90B-16 is a 130/90-16.
