Broken Radio Fader Control

Postby Mag93_1500 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 2:27 pm

I believe I have found a web site for those of us that have broke the radio fader control when removing the ignition switch cover. Copy and then paste this site and this will get you to the 90 cent potentiometer. http://www.futurlec.com/Potentiometers/ ... DUAL.shtml
I ordered the black aluminum knob also. http://www.futurlec.com/SwKnob.shtml
Before unsoldering the old broken pot be sure to mark the wires. I tied the six wires together that go to one side and then the other six. But note where they go.

Are you talking about an aftermarket fader? The factory fader mounts on top of the left handlebar switch console, and the shaft is a couple of inches long.

The only problem you might encounter with the pot you linked to is that it may not be capable of handling the amplifier output power. I'm not sure what the output power is of the GL1500 amp.

Hooking it up is fairly simple - each ganged pot handles one channel (left and right). One side of the pot is the front speakers, one is the left. Hooking it up this way will make it so that when it is rotated left, the rear speakers will be on:

To reverse it so that rotating left goes to the front, swap the front/rear connections on each channel.
