an emmision outlet with no hose

Postby Thesseus » Wed Mar 14, 2012 11:23 pm

In front of gas regulator diaphram is a metal tube traversing from side to side, hoses at each end go to carbs but in the middle at the top is an outlet designed for a hose, it points to the left. Should there be a hose here and where does it go? On a previous topic on surging carbs there is a video and on the video no hose is present. The bike was not running right(88 gl 1500) near end of season and contributed it to bad gas because it cleared up but this spring for a prelimary firing it did not idle well.
Since it has almost 50,000 miles the bike is apart for plugs and filters and fresh oil, hitch and wiring. Wish there was a good site for the wiring, it seems most of my light wiring at the back is green on the lights, and I do not have an electrical schematics yet.

The metal pipe is a carb vent and does not have anything hooked to it on mine either.
Clarify "it seems most of my light wiring at the back is green on the lights".
Download the schematic and euro service manual from the "manuals" section

Could you perhaps post a picture of what you're looking at? Or perhaps this diagram helps?

Green wires throughout the bike indicate a ground wire.
