choppy music

used reverse today on 1991 Goldwing 1500se and my music went choppy and if i put it in neutral or pull up on reverse lever it is clear again. any suggestions

Reverse uses a lot of power.If your battery is weak,when loading it with reverse can cause a voltage drop and cut out the radio.
As I recall,the owners manual states not to operate the radio and reverse at the same time.
So.....It's my best guess that your battery may be weak or has corroded connections.At least it's free to test at the local shop.

The radio volume should drop when you engage reverse.
