1997 Aspencade Cornering Lights

Postby ford8520 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:39 am

My left cornering light has started to stay on after the turning signal self cancels. It will not cancel manually either. Bulbs were recently changed. my guess is the switch but just wanted some advice as i am considering converting them to driving lights anyway vs. installing a new switch unit.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If it's like my 88.There are 2 relays. One for each light. Its attached up on the harness above the horns, just under the faring mounts. It's small, about 1/4'' X 1/2" x 1" and has 4 wires on it.
Actually the relay is energized to keep the light off,not the other way around. It can be replaced, but be aware of the contacts. It's used as a normally closed contact relay.

I was poking around a bit at the salvage yard one day and I found the same type and size relay used in some Ford.It looks the same and even has the extra terminal for N.O. contact. The local Autozone or Napa may have them new,but I got mine right from under the hood of a junked car.CHEAP.
The extra terminal....I used it to operate a parking lamp in the cornering lamp circuit. Now I have lower marker lights and cornering lights.I just had to replace the lamp socket and lampand add one wire to each lamp.
