Side Marker lites on saddle bags

Postby coldcanuk » Wed Apr 11, 2012 10:48 pm

I am having trouble with getting my left side saddle bag lites to work. I have checked all the bulbs and they test fine plus the wiring looks good. Right side works perfect. Any suggestions??

This may help.
A common missed troubleshooting method is when using a meter or probe ,is using the frame as the other end of the test wire for the ground.
When there is a problem, and everything looks and tests OK,I usually find it's a ground fault.
If a lamp doesn't light, measure on the wires going to it....Both of them.If the lamp has volts to it and also on the green wire, the ground is bad.
A spare piece of wire can be substituted to verify the problem.
I hope this is as clear as mud.Let us know what you find.
My 88 had electroluminescent panels in the side markers..The inverter was bad,I just replaced the whole mess with a mini red florescent lamp.It came from a computer supply.About $6 each.

Oh by the way,if yours has the electroluminescent panels, the inverter is behind the right turn signal assembly. The inverter will shock when on too
