Headlight Upgrade?

Post by jazzrider » Thu Apr 12, 2012 10:16 pm

I am looking to upgrade my headlights. I have found some high output bulbs (100/55 watt) (60/55 watt)
what are the problems with this upgrade if any. I have a 95 amp alternator already so voltage should not be an issue.

If you have the electrical side covered, the only thing I could think of would be heat, the higher wattage bulbs are producing a lot more heat, as our headlight assemblies are made of plastic, I would worry about it melting or at least becoming soft and deforming.. Can't think of anything else, hopefully some people on here will have already tried these bulbs and can say if the heat was an issue or not. Have you considered HID? It gives a lot more light but no extra heat (Referring to a 35Watt HID).

I've got 60/55 watt bulbs in mine (also with a 90 amp alternator) and no problems with heat - just brighter lights.
