1997 Aspencade rev/clutch weirdness

Postby riewil97 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:22 pm

Anybody come across this? Bike has not been driven much in the last 3 years, don't know if it has anything to do with the situation. The clutch wont engage until the lever is almost all the way released. When we first purchased it a month ago it was okay...maybe engaged at half lever. Then I tried to use the Reverse and the reverse did nothing, disengaged reverse and now it slips when accelerating through the gears almost to the point of no power just slippage. After that scenario it sat for a week, now this time the clutch was back, however with high travel of the lever again. As I drove it, it still slipped if I goosed it. I looked at the cables for reverse, the one closest to the back of the bike has some slack in it. Could it be a reverse adjustment? (the indicator comes on like it is supposed to) or possible that the clutch needs bleeding?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
When was the hydraulic clutch last flushed and bled?
You may want to flush the system, introduce new fluid and bleed the system.
Reverse is it's own system.
