head lights work intermittenly

Hello, I just started having a problem with my headlights, sometimes when I satrt the bike they will not come on high or low then the next time i start the bike they come right on. everything else on the bike works great. any suggestions on where to start.

Your start switch needs to be cleaned.

When your start switch is pressed, it turns the headlights off momentarily to make more power available to the starter motor. If it's dirty, the contacts in the starter switch responsible for the headlight switching can cause it not to come back on.

It can also be a relay, but nine times out of ten, this problem is due to the starter switch. Have a look at How to free stuck pushbutton switches - this procedure uses contact cleaner, which will likely solve your problem.

Thank you for this post, my new to me 95' 1500 aspencade started doing some of this today, and I was already getting stressed. But I came to this and my stress is now gone, I love this site and another I found on the web, it pays to surf around to save a fortune in dealer costs. Thanks again.
