The lights for volume and IC volume don't light up the three other ones do..so before I tear into the that top panel to see what's going on any suggestions? Are there separate bulbs in there or a LED strip that may be broke?? or ????

Check the GL 1500 DIY thread in this forum. It has some how to articles on LED lights for the dash and handlebars.

Good how to..but a lot of work to just change a bulb or two..think I 'll wait until I have to do more work in there..and when I do I'll replace all the bulbs. LEd stuff a little more than I care to attempt..I am electrically challenged

I am changing everything over the LED eventually. First, I am doing the dash and control stalks. There is nothing "electrically challenging" to most of it- just swap out the regular bulb for the LED bulbs.

Also, I am changing the colors from blue to red (except the indicators lights).

Might as well do it. Tear into it and change them to LED- they last virtually forever.

There is a bit more to it then just changing the bulbs to LED's. the radio uses "special lights" that are rare. To change to LED's you need to add a resistor to the LED otherwise the 12volts will burn out the LED almost immediataly! Use a 3 or 5 mm LED..I used bright white..looks good! If I remember correctly..there are 5 bulbs that are in the radio housing itself. 3 of one type, 2 of another!

Have a look at How to change your radio lights to LEDs and you'll see the whole procedure.
