Installing Passenger Arm Rest.... Help!

Postby lnfog » Sat Feb 13, 2010 11:27 pm

Hi,

I just bought a set of passenger arm rests for my 1988 GL1500. The instructions that came with them really suck. It says to unbolt the CB antenna's. Can anybody tell me how to do that? Thanks.

The left (CB) and right (AM/FM) antennas each have two bolts holding them in place. You have to remove the side pockets to get at the bolts. There are three screws and a locking tab holding each pocket to the trunk. Open the trunk and look on the forward wall behind where the pockets are mounted and you'll see the three Phillips screws. Remove the screws and then wiggle the pocket to release it from the locking tab.

Once you have the pocket out of the way, you'll see the two bolts holding the antenna to the trunk. If you were replacing the antenna you'd have to unplug the two wires (antenna signal and ground wire) under the seat but there should be enough slack to allow you to pull the antenna off far enough to get the armrest support under the bolts.
