The original horns do not use a relay, they send all the current for the horns through the horn button and original wiring.

When I replaced the horns on my 1100, the OEM wiring and/or button could not handle the current required by the new horns, and all I would get was a "click" out of them. Even if yours can, the chances are significant that the horn button could arc and fail after a while, because it was not designed to handle the current being put through it by the new horns.

Putting in a relay to handle the new horns is cheap insurance against having to replace a horn button or OEM wiring harness down the road.

No doubt about it, add a horn relay. The GL1500 horn button will not deliver the current needed for new horns.
