"rich" smell when accelerating

Postby Gbrown4024 » Wed Aug 01, 2012 2:14 pm

When I accelerate moderately I get a rich fuel mixture type of smell on my 1989 Goldwing with 63K, this does not occur at any other time. Any guesses?

I think I know what it is, I have an exhaust leak on the right side at the head.

Make sure crankcase breather tube has been drained.

Where might I find the crank case breather tube?

They are located behind the left side covers. You will need to remove the front and rear covers, and you will see them hanging there. The plugs just pull out of the end of the tubes, but have a container ready to catch the gunk that comes out.

I located the drain tubes, one was empty and the other had about a 1/4 cup of junk in it. Thanks for the tip.
