Fader control installation for rear speakers..Help

Postby lnfog » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:06 pm

Hi Everybody,

I bought the rear speaker kit from J & M. I am having problems finding where to connect the fader control. It has three plugs, and they are suppose to be on the left side of the bike just under the Panasonic stereo. They are trying to help me, but in the mean time I want to know if anybody out there has installed these on their bike. My bike is the 1988 GL 1500. I was able to find where the speakers plug in the back. I just can't find where to plug in the fader control.

I had the bike all torn apart, and had to put it back together. It was very frustrating all the work for nothing. I took pictures, but i didn't realize the files are too big to upload here, and I can't figure out how to reduce the size of the file. If you email me I will email you the photos. Thanks

Michele

If you post your pictures in the "Member Pictures" area, it will resize them for you, and then you can post them in your message.

Thanks for the information Wingman. Here is a picture of my Baby torn apart. For the life of me I can't figure out where to plug in the three plugs for the fader.

Thanks,
Michele

Just did mine a few months ago and I had the same problem, it was on the left side but lower than where I thought it was. I had to remove everything down to and including the reverse lever and cover to get to it.

Good Luck
Rick

Hi Rick,

I had a picture of the bike with the side off. I dn't know what happened to it so I am posting it again. I had everything off and I could still not find it. Could you give me a more specific location?

Thanks,
Michele

If my memory serves me (Sometimes it eludes me LOL!), I think if you run your fingers along the backside of the wiring harness on the left side of the picture you may feel some 'loose' wires hanging down. My connector was in that area and had a protective cap over the end. If you still can't find it, expand your search to the right along the wiring harness.

If my last doesn't produce results, I just read another post that says they found the connector next to the CB.
