Fork cap jig

Post by pgjeepster » Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:18 pm

I made this to put my fork caps on while forks are on the bike, I tried to muscle it on but the cap and washer flew everywhere. This took very little effort and just make sure to set up the cap to where it is just before the treads catch otherwise you may cross thread.

A most excellent idea.

I put spacers in my forks as the springs were getting soft, and talk about a three man job getting the washers and cap back on. Like you say if you are not careful and it gets away from you, you spend the rest of the day crawling round to find what shot out of the fork, and it goes that quick you don't have a chance to see what went which way.
