Wires from radio unit?

Postby mgatortpd » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:19 am

Ok, so I followed the example of "HOW TOO" install a AUX jack for my IPOD and it works great. Now, while dis-assemebling the radio/cassette unit (1988 GW 1500), I found that the previous owner(?) had modified the wiring harness as you can see in the pic. What the heck do you think they did? Everything works as far as I know. I did find a intercom plug in the front left faring, but I don't use it anyway, thinking that maybe the wire modification goes to the intercom?

I also replaced all 4 radio speakers with some good froms I found on Ebay and they sound awesome. Replacing the front speakers was a bit more detailed as I had to remove the front of the fairing (I used the "HOW TO" example from the forum). Here is the link for what I used for speakers in case anybody is looking for them:

As always Virgil, you the man, thanks for the diagram, looks like it is just for the CB which I don't have or use any way. Thanks again!

Hmmm.I don't have a garage door but I do have double doors on my work shop.Maybe I can rig up some kind of automatic opener for them. :)
I know about remotes.
How bout a clapper like the old folks use for lights?
I bet my horn would get it to work.
This is starting to sound like the Red Green show

I was looking at the circuit board. What is the big burn hole ....... it looks like something shorted?

I think it is the result of the last owner trying to soder the wires, if you look close you can see that the wires are soderd together, so I assume the melted burnt spot is from the sodering iron touching the plastic. Nothing appears to be shorted out, at least nothing that I find as of yet.
