94 Aspencade radio problem

Postby hugger-4641 » Fri Aug 10, 2012 3:21 pm

Ok, I've searched the forum and haven't found my exact problem, hope someone can give me some insight. Rode thru a very severe thunderstorm the other day and my radio started acting weird. Very low volume from the front speakers and the left rear, but right rear is working normally. Checked the 5amp standby fuse and it is fine. Everything else works normally as far as I can tell. Any suggestions where to start?

I'd be looking at the front/rear fader control. It is like a volume control for the speakers. The fact that one speaker works indicates that,at least, that amp in the radio is OK.

Ok, thanks, I'll tear into that and see what I can find. I never use the fader control anyway, is there an easy way to bypass it?

Yes if you only want one set of speakers to work.It is a impedance matching control.Regardless of where the control is set,the radio sees the same speaker load on it.

You put me on the right track! Thanks! I grabbed the fader knob and forced some side pressure while turning it and all the speakers worked properly for a brief moment. Going to order a new knob and harness assembly and see if that does it!
