How to wire xm add on radio

Post by Hallct » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:39 am

Does anyone know how, or have you wired up an xm radio on a 1995 1500SE. owners manual says I have a wire under left fairing pocket, but took it to a Honda dealer and wire is not there. Found a sat antenna under the seat so I would say previous owner had one at some time. I have the ram mounts ready to install, but would not have a clue how to wire it up.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Put a Sirius on my 89. Pretty easy. Used a cassette adapter to feed it to the factory radio. Magnetic antenna is on the luggage rack. Put an auxiliary power plug in the right fairing pocket. Receiver is on the left handle bar. I'm about 140 miles south west of you in Panhandle, Tx. Holler if I can help. E-mail

I was going to do the same thing...
- cassette adapter
- lighter plug in the left pocket
- create some sort of bracket for left pocket, I only really listen to 1 station on the sirius....
- all I need is location for the antenna

Looks like a good radio station in my future! Good job tmil

There are several options on a 1500, cassette tape adapter, fm modulator or radio mod to add in the aux input.

I chose the aux input mod. You can do this yourself if you know your way around with a soldering iron but if not you can mail it to sierra and have them do it. They also give your radio a once over while it's there.

Antenna can be mounted many locations. I mounted mine on the dash with a piece of velcro but I've seen plenty of other options that work well

I did the aux input mod myself, and mounted the antenna on the dash right above the right speaker. Works great!
