Will low engine oil level keep a 1500 from starting? Also can you start it in gear or netural with the kickstand up and the clutch lever pulled?

No about oil level. Yes about starting in gear.

Ok on oil level. I have used the Honda shop manual and have trouble shoot the starting in gear problem down to the Diode Assembly, have not taken it out to test it (D2), it could be defective, if so does anyone know where I could find a replacement?

The diode assemblies don't go bad often. I'd check the condition of the clutch switch first (it's the second one, that gets pressed with the lever pulled all the way in).

OK, I checked both switches at the clutch and they both work. Still does not start when in gear and clutch lever pulled in. Any other idea or things to check would be appriciated.

Just one question are you trying to start it with the kick stand down? Just a thought Hal

Kick Stand is up all the time since it has a voyager kit on it.

I sure was hoping I would not have to remove the right rear bag, but I guess that's the next step.

Ok everyone I'm as dumb as I sound, I rechecked the switches on the clutch lever and found the contact to be bad on the top switch. Cleaned them with a contact file and it now works as it should. Thanks to all who help me with this problem.
