Tachometer reading hi rpm

Postby bustedwing » Tue Aug 21, 2012 8:48 pm

Wing, maybe you would know something on this, I did the search and nothing came up. My tach lately has been reading wrong, sometimes 500 rpm sometimes 1000 rpm hi. When at idle it is ok, but when you are going down the road then it acts up. I'm thinking the head is due for replacement, but would like other ideas. Thans. Bud.

I have heard of this problem over and over again from GL1500 owners. Typically it goes away when it is sunny and hot - and the reason for this is that it is often caused by moisture in the dash electronics. When it gets hot, and the moisture evaporates, the problem goes away.

Have you noticed this being the case for you?

Not really but we dont get real hot weather. It does seem to settle down a bit after riding awhile, but not entirely.
