Installing floorboards on a 1990

Postby fischerj » Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:24 pm

Hi All!

My bike currently has foot pegs and I need to know detail instructions to install a set of used floor boards I just bought off ebay.
I thought it would be easy, but I got to looking down there and it doesn't look like there is anything to attach them to (unless I'm missing something)
Do I need to install a crash bar or something to attach it to? Looks like the shifter and brake pedal would be in the way.

Also, do I need a heel-to-toe shifter?

I have attached photos which I hope will help describe the issue.

Thanks You Guys,

Jay

These are made to attach to the side bars around the valve covers. They are not peg replacements. Boards look like my Markland but the mounts are different.

I have something similar on my '88 wing- they are atached to the side bars as mentined before- Not sure If I would ever use them, they were on the bike when I bought it.
Are we having fun yet?

Fish, they look like the Marklands I have on my 95. I will go out this AM and take a pic of them. You should have 2 pcs that go vertically behind the engine guard (one on each side) and then the highway boards have the vertical piece that attaches to this. I don't see the back vertical pieces in your pic.

Liquineer, I love mine. Especially when cruising.

They are quite a stretch for me- short legs- so do not appear comfortable, having siad that I have not been on any really long runs yet- stll getting used to it.

The backplate is missing.

I'm under 5' 8" and they are very comfortable and adjustability can be fit to a person barely 5' tall.

Tennx, I'll swap you for the boards with the heel toe shifter. I have the set of Markland hiway boards.
I live in Ark. That is if no one else wants to trade.

Here the photos of one of the floorboards I installed on my wing to show. I found some clamps but not the original ones.

I found some clamps at a plumbing supply store. They fit perfect, fit tight and I tucked the tighting screw up into the bracket so not to be seen.
