New windshield won't lock completely

Postby georgestoy » Mon Oct 01, 2012 7:47 am

We have a '91 1500 Goldwing trike. We just installed a new windshield but it's as though the locks aren't completely catching letting the windshield slip down. Any suggestions/tips/ideas. Thanks

Are the levers slipping on the splined shafts? Or is the mechanism itself not working inside the fairing? Was it working with the old windshield?

The windshield locking lever has been a pain for years. It is adjustable but nine times out of ten, a few months after tightening it again it still won't hold. I solved that problem by using a Tulsa Windshield.

There is another option for those that like the OEM windshield. Check out Dave's Cycle Supply http://www.davescyclesupply.com/product_details.php?item_id=401. The locks there are reasonable and they do work.

you can also tighten up the garnish on the chrome between headlight and wind shield. it's the same screws, one on each side. loosen slitely and push back towards the screws and tighten back up. also used a piece of thin weather stripping from lowes until i got my new cbaileys windshield.
