Postby dpmath » Tue Oct 09, 2012 5:07 pm

Suddently my CB volume won't lower. Even at the lowest setting its blasting in my ears. Any suggestions?

Does the volume knob on CB unit not work. Does the master or intercom on radio not help.

The CB volume knob does change levels but the lowest is way to high for my helmet. The CB is separate from the other controls; intercom and radio is off.

Does it change if headset is not used.

No, the volume variance is the same no matter what I try.

So it's also blasting out the speakers at the lowest setting if you select speakers rather than headset?

Yep. Either way its loud. On the road with only the speakers it probably would be tolerable but in the headsets it hurts.

It could be the volume control itself, or something wrong with a preamp in the CB. Either way, the CB will have to come out and be disassembled to know for sure.

If it is as loud with the radio might try with the mute depressed. Should be at an acceptable level.
