Help Identifying A Part

Postby noeleo » Fri Nov 16, 2012 6:17 pm

I have this part...

In case you can't tell from the picture, it has three sets of wires. Left side is a Tan and Green that extends about 3-1/2 inched and terminates in a Honda-looking three pin flat female connector, which makes a "Y" out to another three pin connector that is male. On the right, it has two sets of to each that are Tan/White and Green. These terminate with female "bullet" style connectors. The "box" is designed with two mounting tabs, one at each side, and the bottom is "potted" to seal the cocntained electronics. The only identifiers I can find are the characters "BN16".

Can anyone help me identify this? I can take more pictures if anyone needs to see other views, etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Looks like a signal splitter to add left and right auxillary lighting.

Definitely looks like an aftermarket adapter of some kind. Was it in the bike, or did you find it afterward? No idea where it plugs in?

Looking at the white male/female adapter ends I'd have to agree, but I can't imagine what would be in the black module.

Perhaps a relay, the white connetors ensure the fogs (or whatever) only get juice when the lights are powered, one set of blacks to the battery, the other to the new lamps?
Maybe thats not enough wires to include the trigger, though.

OK, so I will ask this. What connector is a three-pin and the wires are Tan, Green/White and Green? :?: I'm so confused...

I believe there are lights that use three-conductor connectors - but remember, the colors on the wire you have aren't necessarily the same as the colors on the bike's harness.

Just a guess..it may be a "Wig-Wag" adapter for brake lights. Mine was similar..but without the bullet style connectors.

In or on what part of the bike did you find this apparatus? It may help to identify its purpose in life.

Thanks for the replies thus far. It was behind the rear lower saddlebag cover, but was not connected.

I think the turn signal plug under the seat will match the white connector and supply a left and right auxillary signal. Might have a blinker relay built in to balance load. The white plugs clearly plug and play, other tails for left and right. I recall at one time an aftermarket light bar for rear that required something similar.
