Fuel Pump Replacement Blues

Post by Shiny » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:31 pm

Had the fuel pump on my 88 replaced with a Honda stock unit. Bike runs, but smells gassy and mileage is worse. I suppose it might be time for a carb rebuild, but the bike runs so well otherwise that I'm kind of afraid to mess with it. Any recommendations??

Well a new pump may be delivering the full fuel pressure and is now simply leaking from a old cracked fuel line at the connections or the weep hole in the bottom of the vacuum valve.
My hose leaked just a little right at the carb.
Also...the carb is vented to a metal crossover tube just in front of the gas cap.It can expel some vapors on occasion.
