Windshield Replacement Options

Postby cbx4evr » Mon Dec 10, 2012 4:47 pm

Well I've searched this forums and a few others trying to decide on a replacement windshield. Local dealer has a December sale on the Memphis Shades and it just happens to suit my budget nicely.

Trying to decide on whether to go for the colour shade or not. Leaning to not.

Then the other decision is - clear of solar? The solar has a light tint.

Any user opinions?? I want to get this ordered soon.

I got a big azz Slip Stream on mine and Im looking to change next year...I have MS. solar on all my shields for my VTX as I like the little bit of tint and scratches are not near as noticeable, for the money you cant beat MS.....good luck on your choice...

I have a Tulsa tall on my GL1500. On the plus side is rider/passenger are turbulance free and well protected from wind/rain and on the negative, you can't see over the screen so when it is night and the screen is at all dirty or there is moisture on the screen, visibility is problematic. I am going to put a much shorter shield on when money is available. I am looking for a cheap OEM take-off that can be cut down.

Also have the Tulsa large shield, in highest position. I get 4-5 mpg better with shield up all the way.

I can't go to a larger shield. The stock size works fine for us. Wife has never complained anyway but then she seldom complains about anything.

I'll definitely be going with the MS windscreen but cant decide if I want the shading.

Can go to an auto glass tint location and choose a tint. Local guy here carries about a dozen shades and 3 different tint colors.
