1996 Interstate - Overdrive Light Slow to Come on

Postby imdmntd2 » Wed Jan 02, 2013 12:35 am

My 96’ Interstate’s overdrive light is slow to come on, but doesn’t affect the function of the overdrive. Has anyone has experienced this before?

Not the OD light on mine.It was the neutral light. Most of the time it wouldn't come on from 2nd to neutral but was OK from 1st up.My switch has some wear to it.It's behind the front cover(yuck).
The OD line also ties into the ECM module and cruise system,if it fails to show OD you may loose cruise control and proper ignition timing.
Not enough to stop the bike but....
Verify it's not corrosion in the connecting plug or wiring first before replacing the switch.
Just short the wire to ground and see if the light response is normal.

Thanks for replying so quickly. Fortunately, my GW doesn't have cruise. I will dig into it and check for corrosion. Thanks again.
