Install instructions for chrome 95-00 windshield garnish

Postby oldnco » Sat Jan 05, 2013 6:39 pm

Found the 95-00 chrome windshield garnish on CL. When I went to replace my original 92 Aspy chrome/black slotted pieces with the new to me chrome one,I can't figure out what the bottom of the chrome piece clips to. There are 2 slots on the underside of the chrome piece that appear to be mounting brackets, but don't have anything above the headlite that they mount to. Anyway, thought if someone had the installation instructions and would be kind enough to post, I would surely be beholden to them. I figure I am missing a piece, just don't know.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanx, Bud

There is a small bracket that bolts in place using the same bolts that fasten the top of the headlight in place:

How did you go about ordering or finding the bracket for the newer garnish piece?
I picked up a chrome garnish off a 1997 but want to install that on my 1993.
Thanks for the info.

I ordered the piece from Cyclemax. URL is : http://cyclemax.com/oem_parts. It is part of the "Wind Screen Assembly" Part # 15-Stay- Part # 64135 - $19.92.

Call Cyclemax if you have any questions. Takes about a week -10 days.

I did order the piece(metal bar)from Cyclemax. I took out the retaining bolts from the headlight, but the bolts now seem too short when I try mounting that metal bar on there. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks-

I suppose those bolts need to be a bit longer with that bracket in place. I'd just pick up some matching bolts from a hardware store that are a bit longer and use them, rather than ordering and waiting for replacement OEM bolts.
