Hot Air Vents and Reverse Handle

Postby cal3san » Mon Jan 21, 2013 8:59 pm

Decided to do some chrome upgrades on the 96 Wing trike and started with the hot air vents. Was able to replace the right vent okay but the left side vent is driving me up the garage walls.

Following directions I used a 6mm allen wrench to remove the reverse handle; only it does not come completely off (stiff wire attached to base of handle). Thus is my problem since the left side vent has an opening that will fit over the handle.

If anyone has done this upgrade, please enlighten this ol' chef.

Thanks,

Cal

It's not a wire, it's a pin. If the bolt has been removed, then the only thing holding it in is friction. Put some more muscle into it, it will come off! :)

Thanks for the diagram. A pictures worth a thousand words.

Even though it's 22 F in the garage, I made a quick dash down to pull the handle off. I'll wait until after I heat up the garage in the AM to finish putting the chrome piece on. Now if the replacement LED corner light would get here I could finish both jobs at the same time.

I hear you on the 22 F garage....mine is the same, and I have NO HEAT! (Heater is on wife's side, all insulated, etc., etc., lucky her). I will want to know how you like the LED Corner lights, I am really getting used to the instrument cluster LEDs and it is looking really good.

Been awhile since I heard of Silverlake, WA. Use to ride up that way when I was training Naval Reservists at Swan Island (Portland) in the early 70s.

Still waiting for the replacement LED bulb but when I light up the driveway with the 1500 the LED side definitely outshines the standard bulb side. Can't wait to see the results when I get LEDs installed on both sides. It's going to make riding at night a whole sight (pun intended) better.

I have been here since late 80s, live on one of the northern sloughs off the lake. And Silver Lake is a long haul to Swan Island for sure (I used to work down there). We have changed somewhat up here, not a lot, but I like it. It is quiet, I get access to the lake, and there is more than enough room on the property to get in to some trouble if I wanted. ;)

Got the second LED today. Most definitely a brighter cornerning light now that the LEDs are installed.
