Radio in my GL1500 is bad

Postby DaveB. » Sat Feb 23, 2013 5:13 pm

I'm looking for a better way to mount a radio,so I can use a car radio cd player.
There was a article on here somewhere that had a thread to a guy making mounts for this type radio that went into the original radio spot, and he was able to mount a standard cd player . The mount was a little priccceee but ya gotta have tunes.
OR if anyone else has seen a mount that looks like it might do the job let me know,
:D

Load your music on a MP3 player..$20..for one that will hold 8 hours of music..stick in your shirt pocket and go..no static, no losing stations on road trips, no commercials, simple ear bud(s) fit under helmet or hat, and it goes with you off the bike.. 8-)

or IF you have to have a radio I have a set up I am not using that you mount the tuner and amp any place in a pocket, trunk, ???? and there is a tuning pod that is about the size of a box of Chicklets that Velcros any place.

$60 bucks and the whole set is yours plus shipping and it's an HD radio.

Radio, amp and control pod with wires and instruction. I had it on my 1100 and took it off before I sold it..

If interested I can take a pic for you of the set up..almost forgot it has a remote too..so even the pod can be hidden away.

No subscription..stations have been putting out HD signals for a while regular stations just clearer/stronger signals but you need HD setup to get them..pics later today too early to take them now..it's dark outside.. :D

Here is what you get..don't have the remote.

The silver box is the radio, the blue is the amp and the pod with the screen to show channels etc. the cable is about 10' long so as I said you can mount the radio box and amp anyplace and run the pod cable to the spot where you want it I had mine Velcroed on the tank lid of the 1100 and put it in the snap pocket when not in use..so the whole thing was hidden when I parked the bike.

Works great..easy to install.

All the wiring is long I didn't cut anything when I installed it on my bike..several feet on all the power lines..main and trickle draw for presets.

Yep standard antenna jack fits into the radio box..I used the antenna that was on my 1100. I can't find or never had the remote..just shown in the manual if I find it I'll include it..I never used one so maybe I never had it..

No rush on money..after the 1st is fine..

Sure.. if the box is less than 4 lbs. shipping is $40, if more $60 1st class VS priority medium flat rate box. plus the $60 for the radio and amp.

Hi all, i use an FM transmitter, just load your favourite tracks/CDs onto an sd card or memory stick and place into transmitter, then just plug into power socket/cigar lighter, tune the radio into transmitter and the music plays thro' the speakers ..no need for any CD player..i have two..just in case i lose one, they are brilliant and inexpensive :D ...see link below

There are no batteries needed for this device,it works entirely from the power socket, never used/needed the remote,i just download the tracks i want straight off the computer on to a memory stick, depending on the capacity it could be hundreds...or even thousands :geek: ...mine cost around £4-£5 with free delivery from China..got to be worth a try at that price :D
