logic sensor

Postby a@r » Tue Feb 26, 2013 8:00 pm

Gentlemen i have a question for you to ponder over. I have been doing some winter time maintence and repair on my 1997 gl1500 se. There is a small electrical device under my seat and i have no idea what it is. It is not giving any trouble but i would at least like to know what it is just in case. In my best words to describe this part here goes. Small box maybe a little larger than a pack of ciggeretts, it is screwed down with sheet metal screws and it lays right in the middle of the frame under the seat. Also the top of the box is clear and there is a red light that blinks sometimes, leaving that box is a wiring harness that goes to another box that has LOGIC SENSOR on it, this little box is about the size of a old asprin tin. maybe a little thicker. As i said before i have not a clue what is does, i am the second owner and have had this bike for almost 3 years, with no problems but i sure would like to know what this thing does. Battery dead on my camera but i will post pictures later if needed.

Thanks for any help
Alan

It almost sound like a alarm and the little box is a shock or tilt sensor. Have you looked around the bike for a key switch or odd button hidden somewhere? I could be wrong but I have a 96 aspy and I dont seem to remember seeing any thing like that under my seat.------------Hal

Definitely aftermarket, and my best guess would also be an alarm system.

I did a bit of research and found it. It's a Clarion Ungo alarm, I found this advertisement for it from March 1996:

TAlked to the previous owner and you guys were right it is an alarm system that he had installed and then disconnected it due to some sort of problem. At least i now know what it is and all it is doing is taking up space.
