GL1500 front ends?

Postby wiredgeorge » Tue Mar 12, 2013 8:44 am

The front end on my GL1500 trike could use some help. Sure, I could put some new Progressive springs and that would surely help but Racetech a sells Gold Valve Cartridge Emulator Kit for the 1988-94 GL1500. First, anyone have experience with this kit? I know a fella who just installed one in a 1977 KZ1000 and loves it. How about a GL1500? Is there a fork difference between a 1994 and 1997 GL1500? If no one on this site has first hand knowledge is there another site where I would be likely to find someone with first hand knowledge?

Wingstuff has some pretty good info here:

http://wingstuff.com/blog_detail/200_ra ... suspension

I personally have only installed the Progressive Springs and I don't have a trike. I was happy with the result but if I had more money I probably would go Traxxion. Anyone I know with a Traxxion suspension loves it and wouldn't go back. It's what a $25K bike should come with anyway but ….

I'm guessing but I imagine that the demands of a trike would put some added load on a stock suspension.

I had already found that wingstuff link... try following it. There is no link to Traxxion; only to Progressive Suspension who doesn't make an emulator kit for the 1500. Once you find Traxxion, you find they don't seem to make a kit for the 1500 either and they seem to cost well over $2000 and require shipping off your front end to Georgia (as I understand the process) as specific machine work is required. Their (Traxxion) Goldwing video has been hijacked and isn't available and pricing for a trike isn't clear... Race Tech looks like a less expensive option.
