Painted decals

Postby m2102 » Tue Mar 12, 2013 7:07 pm

I have a trailer that has some added on painted decals. Any suggestions how to remove them without taking the paint underneath off also? I've heard easy off oven cleaner will work. Any ideas?

I can personally confirm that Easy Off oven cleaner works very well for this task.

Thanks WingAdmin,is their a trick to it or does it just take a layer at a time, rinse with water as you go? Mite find something iMac practice on before trying on trailer.

I was cautious about taking paint off. I sprayed it on, let it sit for a minute or so, and started wiping it off, and most of the painted-on words came with it. Another small application and it was completely gone. I then rinsed liberally with water to make sure it didn't continue to act on the clear coat.

Easy Off is caustic - the main ingredient is lye. Do NOT allow it to come in contact with aluminum!
