Gold Badges

Postby Mag » Thu Mar 14, 2013 11:17 pm

So, now I am really excited....I added the latest box of "stuff" from Cyclemax (once again, they are great people, and seems to be the lowest out there.....and I had to get a Tshirt....looks great!!), and I have done the crayon trick reconditioning the words on the ignition and handlebars....and I was walking around the bike and noticed the bad paint on the front that says "HONDA", the sides on the covers where the Goldwing emblem is, and also on the back case where it states "HONDA 1500/6".....

Is there a way to "recondition" these? The paint is all chipping, etc., etc. Any suggestions are always appreciated!

I got a can of gloss black and red spray paint.
Spray a little in the cap and with a tooth pick, dipped and let it flow into the chipped/missing area.

By the way,did you know the tooth pick was invented in Cajun country?

Anywhere else it would have been called a teeth pick

Did you put any clear lacquer over the top of it to protect or no? Makes sense what you are saying, did not know it was a basic as that. I am assuming Krylon metallic??

Just good old Rustolium enamel spray paint. No clear coat, although one could do that.
It would require masking for over spray or badge removal.
I just kept it simple, just like the crayons for the letters.Easy touch up.

So if I spray it on cardboard thick, and then paint it on the badges, should be ok, right?

I sprayed about half a teaspoon into the cap,dip the pick to get a little on it and touch it to the area that needs the paint.being thin,it flows into the grooves easily. It may take a few coats but mine only took a hour to finish.
