DIY headphone/microphone construction for open face helmet?

Postby liquineer » Fri Mar 15, 2013 4:33 pm

Has anyone made their own helmet speakers and microphone from parts to work with the 5 pin din plug- I tried a quick search on this forum and did not find anything that would help. I have got something from another Goldwing forum, but I'm a bit unsure as to the pro's and cons of a condenser microphone they used compared to the dynamic microphone normally used- the condenser one needs additional power of about 1.5v DC as well. Any ideas welcome.

Thanks Phil, that is sort of what I was trying to make, but at half the price- the one I saw on another goldwing site was made up from cheap components wired and soldered together- unfortunately to get the one you have found to the UK will add additional costs as well. But I will try and find a UK supplier and see what it does cost, as it converts to about £60 from dollars to pounds if bought in the USA, but would need the cost of delivery added on- might be a similar product available if this one is not.

Before I went to ear buds, we dont use intercom..someone gave me old headset that worked, I cut the mike off , clamped the remaining part to the helmet, velcroed the speakers in worked like a charm...you might place an ad in the classifieds of several forums...good luck
